Digital Spyglass Pancreatoscopy
Pancreatoscopy is "endoscopy of the pancreas duct". This procedure is performed in patients with blockage of the pancreas duct due to stones, which occurs in patients with chronic pancreatitis. Such patients experience abdominal pain and discomfort. In these patients, a small endoscope is advanced into the pancreas duct. The stones causing blockage of the duct are broken down into small pieces using a laser. Subsequently, the stones are removed using routine endoscopic techniques. This is a safe and “painless, scarless” endoscopic procedure. Patients are sedated and typically admitted overnight for observation.
